PDA

AN EFFICIENT, SECURE AND TRACEABLE SOLUTION

Objective of the solution

Multiroir's weekly PDA solution aims to secure the Preparation of Doses to be Administered (PDA), to limit errors in the delivery of medicines in retirement homes or for ambulatory clients of a pharmacy, while ensuring traceability from preparation to distribution.

Principle of the solution

ADVANTAGES OF THE COMPUTERISED WEEKLY PDA SOLUTION

FIGHT AGAINST MEDICAL IATROGENIE

Above all, Multiroir's PDA HEBDO (Preparation of Doses to be Administered) solution aims to reduce the risks of iatrogenic medication by ensuring perfect traceability and security in the preparation and distribution of doses..

Benefits for pharmacies of computer-assisted preparation

Delivering a quality service to EHPAD clients

  • Pharmacies are returning to one of their primary missions: PDA.
  • A simple and intuitive software that assists the pharmacist in his preparation and reduces the risk of errors. This software can be interfaced with healthcare software to retrieve prescriptions.
  • To ensure a quality local service with real added value for its EHPAD(s).
  • The implementation of the solution is fast. Only one hour of training is needed to learn how to use the preparation software, Sécur'Dose©.
  • PDA Hebdo provides a real local service and a human-sized solution.
  • Nurses and nursing staff generally prefer to work with blister packs rather than sachets. Indeed, the blisters allow colour coding, exceptional blisters, and the possibility of a change of treatment, which is much more difficult with an automat.

Limited investment and financial risk

  • An economical solution.
  • No excessive investment. On average, the basic investment is €2,000.
  • No financial risk.

In the event of a breach of agreement with the EHPAD, the pharmacy has no risk to bear. All it has to do is stop buying consumables.

  • The possibility of keeping the retirement home even if a competitor pharmacist is equipped with a vending machine.
  • No maintenance contract and no fixed operating costs.

A solution for the future

  • The solution can be used for "ambulatory" or "COMPTOIR" patients of the pharmacy.
  • The PDA fits perfectly into the new missions of the pharmacist. The challenge is now to convince the public authorities to ensure that this preparation is remunerated, thanks to the savings made by the health insurance and the reduction of expenses linked to iatrogeny.

As such, the PDA will be a new source of remuneration for the pharmacist.

  • Healthy and balanced competition.
  • Respects the possibility of substituting the originator with the generic.
  • Flexibility of preparation in the pharmacy or in the nursing home.

ADVANTAGES OF THE COMPUTERISED WEEKLY PDA SOLUTION

ADVANTAGES FOR HOSPITALS - Preparation of doses to be administered

Securing the medication circuit

  • The PDA provides real security for the medication circuit thanks to numerous traceability documents. PDA HEBDO enables the objectives of the "5 B's rule" to be achieved: administering the right drug to the right patient, in the right dose, in the right way, at the right time.
  • Guaranteed hygiene compared to preparation in traditional pillboxes.

Saving nursing time

  • The preparation of doses is carried out by the pharmacy and no longer by the nurses. The nursing staff of the EHPAD have more time to devote to the residents.

Compatibility with existing equipment and work habits

  • The solution does not change work habits because it adapts perfectly to the current operating modes in EPHADs, such as the Individual Nominative Daily Distribution (DJIN).
  • The solution is compatible with existing equipment (trolleys, pill dispensers) and therefore does not require any particular investment.
  • The Secur'dose software is able to retrieve prescriptions from the care software.

BENEFITS FOR PATIENTS - Preparation of doses to be administered

Improved compliance

  • The preparation of doses is individualised and traceability is reinforced.
  • Better medical care (because the nurses have more time for care) and better pharmaceutical care (because the preparation is done by the pharmacy, whose primary mission it is).

Patients retain individual care

  • The patients' individual monthly treatment is retained. It is not mixed with the other patients.
  • The resident retains the choice of pharmacist.

ADVANTAGES FOR PUBLIC AUTHORITIES - Preparation of doses to be administered

Fighting against drug iatrogeny

  • PDA HEBDO is above all an effective solution to fight against drug iatrogeny, which causes thousands of hospitalizations every year.

Compliance with the regulations in force

  • Compliance with the current legislation for pharmacies in terms of population quotas. As the investment is limited, any pharmacy can equip itself with the PDA HEBDO solution and thus prevent a single pharmacy from taking a monopoly of the market at local or regional level.
  • Respects the possibility of substituting the originator with the generic.

Protection of small and medium-sized pharmacies

  • A solution that respects rural pharmacies.

Thanks to PDA HEBDO, even small pharmacies in rural areas can keep their EHPAD customers in the face of competition from larger pharmacies equipped with an automatic machine. It is therefore a solution that preserves the pharmacy fabric in rural areas.

  • A human-sized solution and a local service

The outsourcing of the preparation of Doses from the EHPAD to the pharmacy is inevitable. PDA HEBDO allows us to maintain a safe and quality service because it remains a service on a human scale.

AN EFFICIENT, SECURE AND TRACEABLE SOLUTIONE

Strong points of the solution

la récupération des ordonnances

PDA Hebdo can rely on its Secur'Dose© software for preparation and traceability, and on Multiroir's expertise and range of products for the storage and distribution of medicines in retirement homes. Secur'Dose© software for PDA Hebdo, allows a secure and traceable preparation thanks to :

Recovery of prescriptions

The prescriptions and dosages entered in the establishment's care software are retrieved by Secur'Dose©. Direct entry of prescriptions in Secur'Dose© is also possible.

Filling assistance

The 28-day plate is positioned in a filling tray. During preparation, Secur'Dose will indicate, specialty by specialty, the compartment that must be filled. At each specialty, an easy visual control allows to detect possible errors.

Batch number management

Batch numbers and expiry dates are easily retrieved and managed.

Editing a label
The label is issued to seal the blister plate. This label contains all the information required for proper delivery, such as the resident's name, age, preparation period, name of the preparer, prescriber and the visual aspect of the medication.

The adoption of colour codes also facilitates administration: a colour code for the time of intake + black printing for what is in the tray, red for what is outside the tray and green for "if necessary".

The edition of traceability documents
Printing of traceability documents: filling verification slip, delivery slip, administration validation slip which also acts as a treatment sheet with a dosage reminder.
